Idea of the Month: See the person first and everything else second

February’s Idea of the Month comes from a powerful blog published by the Mayday Trust, titled In Memory of Martin.

The blog tells the story of one man’s journey through homelessness and his interactions with public services which, by focusing only on his problems rather than his strengths and personality, ultimately failed to provide him with the care he needed.

Although Martin’s story is tragic, his case serves as a reminder toset aside ‘what if’ and focus on ‘what now’ and, in every case involving individuals, to see the person first and everything else second.
